If It’s A Hard Day
Congratulations: whatever brought you here—you have made it this far, and today is the first day of the rest of your life!
But maybe today feels like a hard day.
So do this with yourself: sit somewhere quiet and just breathe. Notice your chest slowly rising and falling, feel the chair behind your back, become aware of your feet resting on the floor. Now speak to yourself kindly:
I am safe.
I am going to be OK.
I will get through this time, just hold on a little bit longer.
I am doing a great job with what I have.
I am healing, and it’s okay to have some hard days along the way.
I’m going to make it, I’m going to be okay.
Put your hands on your stomach or your chest, and invite the Light and Life and Love of God to flow into you. Visualize it, let yourself feel it.
There may be mountains in your life and storms coming, but you have what it takes to keep going. Come back to this quiet place as often as you need, to be at rest, to speak gently to yourself and invite God in. And know it, feel it, say it: I’m going to make it, I’m going to be okay.
A Meditation:
You keep track of all my sorrows,
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
